Dream MOOC of Frank van den Ende
The current situation (context)
At this moment we are not working with MOOC's at all in our schools. The majority of the teacher haven't even heard of the term MOOC and are teaching their students in a very traditional way. They have no idea of what a MOOC can do for them and for their students. As an educational advisor I am trying to make teachers and their management aware of the possibilities of new teaching methods. A MOOC is one of those methods. To be honest: I have followed one MOOC in my life, but have never ever created one myself.
The change you would like to see (challenge)
I would like to make teachers in our schools aware of the possibilities that MOOC's can give them. For me the right way to do this is to set an example and create a MOOC myself. This MOOC has to be a voluntary MOOC about activating teaching methods that all teacher in our schools can follow. By setting this example I hope others will follow my footsteps and start creating their own MOOCs.
How you might go about bringing that change (solution)
I believe in word to mouth a lot. If a teacher experiences something good, then he or she will talk about it with his colleagues and maybe even try it out themselves. So by setting a good example I will try to inspire my colleagues.
Measures of success (evaluation)
Inspiration is something that is hard to measure. I don't really believe in "a best way of teaching". Every teacher has it's own style. If I will succeed in making people aware that a MOOC might be their style, I am satisfied. It's not my mission to let everybody MOOC.
