The current situation (context)

Instiution: Wiener Volkshochschulen = 125 year old institution for adult education in Vienna. Education "for the peaple" without barriers of formal ecucation. Politically clear socialdemocratic position: inclusion, participation, emanzipation, education for everybody.

VHS Meidling is part of the Wiener Volkshochschulen in the district of MEIDLING. (Vienna has 23 districts)

What we are facing is: "The people" : ) ist not aware of its potential to influence and change the society in which we live. The knowledge about the rules and possibilities is so perforated, that as result the mood dominates: "Politics are ugly, corrupt and has nothing to do with us."

The change you would like to see (challenge)

What do you hope to achieve? What would be different if you succeed?

Difference: More people of Meidling know, what their rights and possibility in the community are. More people are participating at low level in topics they are interested in (because those topics touch their lifes)


How you might go about bringing that change (solution)

What is your pedagogical approach? Which technologies will you use to implement it, and how?

I dream about:

Videos about "our rights", "what we can do, if ...", "how to face problem xy", "what can I do MYSELF", ...

Learning by doing & reflecting: Working & Learning in concrete projects: A problem arises and is named - > group works on solution, what could be done, do it --> success or fail as a learning event.

number of participants in the mooc, number of participants in working groups, number of finishers.
